Under-Developed /Developing Nations

Introduction:

Under developed and developing nations play an important role in the world economy.  The modern economy relies heavily on trade.  To understand the modern economy, one must understand trade and its role in the world economy.  If it was not for trade, we would not have many of the goods that we use in or daily lives.  To truly understand the world economy, one must understand the relationship between the nations that trade and the development of the nations of the world. 

 

The Task:

You are a newly elected leader of an under developed or developing nation.  You have been charged with developing an economic plan to develop your country into an economic contender.  Before you can do this, you need to research how your country compares to others in the world.

á      Use the resources below to help you answer the questions.

á      Be prepared to discuss your country and talk about questions 9 and 10 in class.

á      Third World: This site gives the characteristics of a Third World Nation.

 

á      CIA World Factbook : The CIA World Factbook is a comprehensive source of international data.  When looking for information in regards to a countyÕs economy, or other data, this is a great place to start.  This is our tax dollars at work.

 

á      The World Bank : This website gives an overview and specific information in regards to the World Bank and its role in developing the economies of developing nations.
