About National Honor Society

The National Honor Society (NHS) is the nation's premier organization established to recognize outstanding high school students. NHS strives to honor those students who have demonstrated excellence in the areas of Scholarship, Leadership, Service, and Character.

NHS is more than just an honor roll. The NHS chapter establishes rules for membership, service, leadership, and character. These four criteria for selection form the foundation upon which the organization and its activities are built.

Selection to NHS first involves the identification of a candidate by the selection criteria. Candidates are usually notified of eligibility in September. From there, candidates are required to fill out an application to be reviewed by the selection committee. Candidates are then informed of their selection in late October. The induction ceremony follows in early November.

Meetings are held in Mr. Coffman's room at least twice a month at 7:30 a.m. Remember to check the calendar on here as well as the calendar in Mr. Coffman's room on the NHS bulletin board.
